Tamarack Ridge's First-Ever Trick-or-Treat
November 2, 2023
Ghosts and goblins were running all around Tamarack Ridge this Halloween season! On October 30th, Tamarack Ridge held its first-ever Trick-or-Treat event, welcoming our residents and staff members' kids and grandchildren to the facility. Although we were unable to have the residents pass out candy, they still had a blast watching the children parade down the hall.
The residents enjoyed yummy cupcakes and apple cider as they listened to Halloween music and watched the kids through the windows. The kids paraded down the main hall collecting lots of candy and goody bags. Once the kids made their way down the hall full of candy, they were led to the large dining area where they enjoyed donuts and cider while coloring spooky Halloween crafts and playing games. Smiles could be seen and laughs could be heard throughout the halls of Tamarack Ridge!
This event could not have happened if it wasn’t for all the amazing families who donated candy. We also want to thank OEM/MILLER who donated over 50 bags of candy for this event. We are so grateful we are surrounded by such a wonderful community that always helps make these events possible.
When COVID hit, events like this closed down, and as healthcare workers, we were heartbroken for our residents who felt this separation from our community. It was so hard seeing residents in skilled nursing facilities across the nation become isolated with no visits from friends or family. Being able to see our residents' faces light up as we are now able to do events like this makes us all so happy.
Hosting events and having the community come to our facility allows our residents to feel part of the community again, especially for those residents who don't have family. Our residents, their families, and our staff are just one big family. Hosting events at Tamarack Ridge allows our big family to get together and remember what is truly important: staying connected and appreciating each other.
