Tamarack Ridge Open House a Success, Impresses Guests

Nearly 400 community members, industry professionals, and Foundations Health Solutions team members attended an Open House to see Tamarack Ridge Health and Rehabilitation, the newest property in the family of Foundations Health Solutions nursing homes. Tamarack Ridge, which features 96 units for older adults who need skilled rehabilitation services or long-term care, is located on the border of Kent and Brimfield, in Portage County.

“Gorgeous facility! This place is beyond impressive. Excited for the future residents and families. Well done,” commented Neall French, an industry professional and one of the guests who attended. Many of the guests also raved about the menu, which featured shrimp flambé, fried risotto balls, and a charcuterie spread with bread from Brimfield Bakery. A team of Foundations Health Solutions Chefs collaborated to round out the rest of the menu. “I like to participate in these events using our skills and our supplier’s ingredients while blending in ingredients from the community because it shows that we make delicious, healthy food for our residents,” said Chef Mike Roberts, Foundations Health’s Corporate Executive Chef.



Guests were guided on tours around the facility where they saw private suites featuring 42-inch-wide beds for comfort, 55-inch flat-screen TVs in every room, and walk-in showers in a spacious bathroom in each unit. "Tamarack Ridge was built for Portage County and the surrounding communities to allow families who live in this area access to quality care in a brand-new private suite, private room setting," said Chad Brenner, Property Developer and partner with Brenner, Kaprosy, Mitchell, LLP. The property, which will offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with around-the-clock nursing care, will also add some 200 jobs to the community.

"We want to contribute to the Kent community in a variety of ways," said Gregg Buckner, Administrator at Tamarack Ridge. "Not only will we offer quality care, but also we will pay competitive wages and invest in our employees. Another big initiative for us is to collaborate with students from Kent State University, as that intergenerational interaction is beneficial for both populations." Kent State students collaborated with Tamarack Ridge employees to plan the Open House event, and nursing, culinary, and healthcare administration students will be involved at the skilled nursing facility as patients begin to be admitted.
